The Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho believes in not only serving individuals with epilepsy, but the community in which they reside. We liken an individual with epilepsy to a pebble: when tossed into the “water” of the community, the ripples are all of the lives touched by this one individual. This includes family members, school teachers, employers, nurses, first-responders, and many more.
One in ten people in America will experience at least one seizure in their lifetime, and one in a hundred will develop a seizure disorder. With over 3 million Americans with a seizure disorder, the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho has a strong commitment to educate everyone about the condition, including how to recognize the many types of seizures, and how to administer the appropriate first-aid. Education is key to reversing negative stereotypes, creating better understanding, expanding compassion, empowering individuals, and increasing awareness of the prevalence of seizure disorders in general.
The Epilepsy Service Specialist is a highly-educated, highly-trained speaker who addresses the following core audiences:
- First Responders
- School Teachers
- School Nurses
- Employers
- Day Care Teachers
- Veterans & their Caregivers
- Senior Citizens & their Caregivers
The Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho has a strong commitment to the above-noted audiences because it is these professionals who serve the most vulnerable in our community. The fastest-growing population with new, onset epilepsy are seniors, veterans and children.
